Cathedral’s Waltz and USPS District Manager Rakes Co-Host Boston Event with Postmaster General DeJoy

Rome, NY – Kimberley J. Waltz, vice president for client relations and postal affairs at Cathedral Corporation and a 2023 Postal Customer Council (PCC) Leadership Award winner, will co-host with USPS Massachusetts/Rhode Island District Manager Michael Rakes, the regional PCC Day meeting and celebration featuring the U.S. 75th Postmaster General, Louis DeJoy, as keynote speaker.

DeJoy was appointed Postmaster General and CEO of the United States Postal Service (USPS) in June 2020. He is leading “Delivering for America,” an effort to allow the USPS to fulfill its public service mission and maintain financial sustainability into the future. The event will allow DeJoy to provide an update on his and his management team’s transformation of and vision for the USPS.

“I am honored to have the opportunity to co-host this event representing multiple award winning PCCs. This is a team effort and we are delighted to feature Postmaster General DeJoy as the keynote speaker,” Waltz said. “Our PCC events are a terrific resource, allowing information to be shared between the USPS and its customers, especially business organizations who are the largest users of the postal service. We encourage all postal customers in the region to consider taking advantage of this opportunity to learn more about USPS efforts and provide feedback.”

The meeting, hosted by the Greater Boston, Providence, Western Massachusetts, Southern Connecticut and Northern Connecticut Postal Customer Councils, will be held from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 20, at the Boston General Mail Facility, 25 Dorchester Ave., Boston, MA 02205.

Also speaking will be industry-leading Postal Center International (PCI) president & CEO Ismael Diaz and Chris Wrenn of local favorite, Sully’s Brand. Information will be provided on USPS Ground Advantage and how this new shipping platform may benefit attendees’ operations.

National and local PCC Leadership Awards will be presented at a recognition ceremony, with vendor resources, networking opportunities and prize giveaways also available. PCC Leadership Awards are presented each year by the Postal Service in recognition of exemplary work to strengthen and grow the PCC network. More than 220 nominations were submitted this year.

Waltz was named the Bronze winner of the PCC Industry Member of the Year in late June. She is the only person ever to have received the honor twice.
